Solvay Pharmaceuticals Adds ACD/Labs' NMR Prediction and Processing Tools to Second Pharmaceutical Research Facility
Toronto, Canada, and Weesp, NL, March 30, 2005 -
Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc., (ACD/Labs) and Solvay Pharmaceuticals B.V. (Solvay) announce that ACD/Labs' 1D and 2D NMR Prediction, Processing, and Databasing software modules are being deployed at the Chemical Design and Synthesis Unit of Solvay Pharmaceuticals' Weesp, NL, research and development site.
Solvay was first introduced to ACD/Labs' industry-standard NMR software through a December 1999 installation at their Hannover, Germany site. Now, research scientists at both Weesp and Hannover have gained the ability to quickly and accurately calculate chemical shifts and coupling constants for 1H and 13C NMR spectra using ACD/NMR Predictors, as well as perform vendor-neutral processing and analysis of their data using ACD/1D and 2D NMR Processors. To manage this and other analytical data generated by Solvay scientists, both sites also implemented the NMR database modules of ACD/SpecManager, the analytical data management system that unifies structures, spectra, and other analytical information from any technique into a single interface.
Dr. Guy Desmarquets, Director of European Operations for ACD/Labs, remarks, "Year after year, we as a global software provider observe deeper and deeper collaboration between corporate divisions and individual research groups in different countries. We understand that multi-site and international communication is an integral part of the modern R&D process, and are pleased that our customers on different continents are using our tools to establish better information exchange and make better decisions toward advancing this collaborative science."
The software modules installed at the Weesp site were purchased through Chemcad, ACD/Labs' official Distributor for France, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands. Dr. Hans de Bie, Account Manager for Chemcad, comments on the purchase, "This is a big step forward to a long-term collaboration with Solvay. With this extension in Weesp, Solvay made a critical step forward to build a global repository of analytical data. Chemcad is pleased to be able to provide full support to this initiative."
The combined deployments at Hannover and Weesp are viewed as a first step towards a long-term collaboration between ACD/Labs and Solvay to increase their elucidation efficiency in critical cases.
